Labor Day is a day to appreciate the efforts of workers and laborers across the globe.  In the late 1800, the labor community demanded to designate a specific day to remember the sacrifices, and achievements of laborers in all industries. Now May 1st is a designated labor holiday across the globe to celebrate the efforts of laborers. So, celebrate this day with your co-workers, laborers, drivers, and all those who are working hard to feed their families.

What is Labor Day?

Why do We Celebrate Labor Day?

The industrial revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries brought plenty of jobs to the USA. But what didn’t bring is sufficient salaries, appropriate guidelines, and safety regulations. The average work hours of Americans were 12 hours per day and 7 days a week during the hype of the industrial revolution. Even though there were no restrictions on child labor at that time.

So, the people observe the poor conditions of laborers and start supporting the American workers. People and communities start demanding fair salaries, fair working hours, insurance, and other rights from the companies. They did protest in the form of rallies, and road blockages that turned violent. During these strikes, the idea of Labor Day was formed to support laborers and workers from all over the world. And the first Labor Day parade was celebrated in New York on September 5, 1882.

1.     Attend a Labor Day Parade

Many companies, firms, and communities celebrate Labor Day according to their traditions. But the majority of People celebrate Labor Day by organizing parades or festivals. This is how you can feel special to your co-workers, your servants, and drivers by celebrating their day with them. You can participate in music festivals, or check the Labor Day events on your newspaper. Spending a day with your employees or workers or attending a Labor Day parade with them is a great way to celebrate Labor Day.

2.     Host a Labor Day party

You can celebrate Labor Day by hosting a Labor Day party for workers, family, and friends. And if you are running a company then you can arrange a corporate lunch to appreciate your employees. You can also set up activities such as you can play cricket, and badminton, and make a festive environment to encourage your staff. Moreover, hosting a Labor Day party will put a positive impact on your employees and make them feel special that company does care about their employees.

3.     Drop Off Treats at a Local Fire Station or Hospital

Celebrating your Labor Day with real heroes such as hospital workers or fire station workers is one of the best ways to celebrate this day. You can take food items, pancakes, or candies with you and deliver them. This is how you can feel special to them.

4.     Express your Gratitude to Your Coworkers.

Express your gratitude to your coworkers and let them know that you really enjoy working with them. You can plan a day out with your co-workers to celebrate this special day. Moreover, you can give great career advice to your junior coworkers. You can leave a message of ‘Happy Labor Day’ on your coworker’s desk.
